Review: ‘No, Wait. Yep. Definitely Still Hate Myself.’ by Robert Fitterman.

Fitterman NWYDSHM

This month I took a sturdy look at Robert Fitterman’s No, Wait. Yep. Definitely Still Hate Myself. published by Ugly Duckling Presse. I’m no stranger to experimental writing; with interests in postmodern and ergodic literature (as well as a blossoming interest in asemic poetry), but I’d never come across anything like NWDSHM.

You’ll note from the review that the chapbook resists traditional reading and reviewing processes – like ergodic, I guess – though it resists reading far more strongly. A product of Conceptual Writing, NWDSHM’s poetry is one we cannot observe. The poetry seems intrinsically linked with the process of creating the text, which is very interesting from a writing/writers perspective, but I’m unsure how rewarding this will be for the reader. I’ll have to do some more reading, some investigating… it certainly is an interesting genre!

Anyway, here’s the review in all it’s glory:
