In Autumn (Poem)

In Autumn

There’s time between
each blade
of grass, each wave
of water shuffling
the sands around
our sleep.

Then the push
– a force settling
in those pebbles
– a micro-dense
shattering
of particulars.

We struggle
to sense ourselves
in a body of leaves,
fallen in the red
of an Autumnal
embarrassment.
